Hypocrisy/Into The Abyss/Nuclear Blast/2000 CD Review

Hypocrisy are a band from Sweden that has been around for more than 20years which I would describe as death metal with a blackened/atmospheric touch and this is a review of their classic album "Into The Abyss" which was released in 2000 by Nuclear Blast.

Drums are very fast and technicsl with alot of brutal blast beats that sound very powerful while the bass playing kind off has a role of a lead bass but most of the time it is rythym bass with alot of fast riffs, as for the keyboards when they are utilized they sound very atmospheric

Rythym guitars have a good amount of variety with some fast death metal riffs that utilize alot of palm muting and you can hear some thrash influences while the guitar leads are very fast with alot of melodies that sound very powerful and at times they sound dark and doomy.

Vocals are mostly low pitched death growls that have a small amount of black metal influences and there are some ocassional clean vocals, as for the lyrics they are not printed but by judging by the song titles there soms to be themes about death and sorrow, as for the production on this album which was recorded and mixed at Abyss Studios during April of 2000 it sounds very professional and you can hear all of the musical instruments.

In my opinion this was a really good album from Hyprocrisy and it was one of the heaviest albums they put out after years of experimenting on different albums and this was kind of a cross between their more brutal days mixed with the more atmospheric sound that they were creating in the 90's, if you are a fan of atmospheric death metal you would not be disapointed with this album.

STANDOUT TRACKS INCLUDE "Legions Descend" "Resurrected" "Digital Prophecy" "Total Eclipse" and "sodomized". RECOMMENDED BUY
